Wout Weghorst really showed himself in the Premier League on Wednesday evening. The Burnley striker gave a phenomenal and decisive assist to Jay Rodriguez against Manchester United, making the Clarets managed to score a point: 1-1. United still pushed hard, but was left behind full of frustration and is overtaken in the rankings by West Ham United. Burnley cherishes the draw, which is not enough to get rid of last place.
Manchester United started the match without Cristiano Ronaldo, who came in after an hour of play. The team scored three times within 21 minutes, but had the misfortune that two goals were disallowed. Raphaël Varane appeared to have been offside on a good header, while an accidental tap by Edinson Cavani was canceled due to a previous push from Paul Pogba. Just before that, the Frenchman scored the only valid goal of the first half on the scoreboard by walking in a low cross from Luke Shaw: 0-1.

Cavani should have made it 0-2 after more than half an hour, but headed from very close range to goalkeeper Nick Pope. Burnley had almost nothing to say, but suddenly came back two minutes after the break. Weghorst sent both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay into the woods with an extremely dexterous foot movement and also sent a good through ball to Jay Rodriguez, who finished it: 1-1.
Weghorst then fired a shot into the side net, but for the rest Burnley had to defend. James Tarkowski managed to stop Jadon Sancho at the last minute, while a clever hack from Varane was blocked on the goal line by Ben Mee. Ronaldo aimed his head twice.
