José Mourinho was kicked out of the Italian cup tournament on his return to San Siro against Internazionale. The AS Roma trainer was no match for Simone Inzaghi’s team with his team: 2-0. With the win, Inter joins the last four. In it, it competes against the winner of the game between AC Milan and Lazio, which is scheduled for Wednesday evening. It was the first time since 2010 that Mourinho played in San Siro against the club with which he was so successful.
Inzaghi kept both Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries on the bench, while Mourinho started with Rick Karsdorp. Inter never ran into serious trouble, thanks in part to excellent defensive work by Milan Skriniar. The Slovakian defender had lined up on the goal line just in time to head a shot by Nicolò Zaniolo off the line. The latter got the ball somewhat happily after the released Handanovic was unable to intercept. The game was closed twenty minutes before the end by Alexis Sánchez. The attacker made an excellent effort with a shot into the left corner. Dumfries, who came in in the final phase, was unable to make his mark.
