Donny van de Beek is ‘upset’ by his current situation at Manchester United. Despite the explicit speculation in recent days about a rental period at Crystal Palace, the Manchester Evening News for the time being there is nothing to play with with a view to the near future of the 24-year-old midfielder. Manager Ralf Rangnick would still like to keep Van de Beek.

The Manchester Evening News writes on the basis of ‘dressing room sources’ that Van de Beek feels ‘mislead’ by Manchester United about his second season. Everton was in the market for the midfielder after his first difficult year at Manchester United last summer, but manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer then stopped a departure at the last minute. However, the Norwegian coach gave Van de Beek hardly any playing minutes and the nineteen-time the Dutch international would now regret that he listened to Solskjaer at the time.

After Solskjaer’s resignation and the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager, Van de Beek’s situation has not improved. So far this season, he has played 380 minutes, spread over 14 games. In this, Van de Beek was only four times a basic player and in the Premier League he did not even appear at the kick-off in this football season. Nevertheless, Rangnick would rather not let him go, because he wants to keep choice in his midfield.

In addition to Van de Beek, Rangnick has Nemanja Matic, Fred, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes at his disposal. Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund were offered Van de Beek earlier in the transfer window and Crystal Palace has shown interest, but according to the Manchester Evening News there is nothing concrete about Van de Beek at the moment. Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that Van de Beek would be close to a temporary move to Crystal Palace.
