Ronald Koeman is no longer counting on the arrival of Memphis Depay, says Johan Derksen Friday evening in Veronica Inside. The latter states that Barcelona will not be able to complete the transition of the Olympique Lyon attacker financially. Valentine Driessen adds that Koeman is therefore going to give Luis Suárez another chance.

Driessen had Tuesday night on behalf of The Telegraph the first time Depay was going to Barcelona. Later that message was denied in all keys by Juninho, technical director of Lyon. “Barcelona is round with Memphis and Lyon, only that money…”, Driessen defends his scoop on Depay. “There must be money on the table before you can spend it. They have to sell someone.”

According to Driessen, Barcelona is in a difficult position because of the leaked news about the agreement with Lyon. “Of course it wasn’t intended that it would leak out at all, because those players of Barcelona are now completely out of the paving stones. Everyone knows: Barcelona has to sell, they have to collect 60 million to get Depay for 30 million. But nobody wants Suárez. If you see him training you don’t want him anyway, but certainly not for the top prize”.

Derksen claims, based on his own information, that Koeman put the arrival of Depay out of his mind. “According to generally well-informed sources, Koeman does not really take Depay into account anymore. Koeman has in fact already resigned himself to the fact that it will not succeed, because it seems to be such a big financial problem that it is actually no longer possible”, according to Derksen, who keeps a small hand on the arm. “Of course, there can always be developments.

Driessen then says that Koeman therefore wants to continue with Suárez, who seemed to be on his way to Juventus for a long time. “That’s why he has now said: ‘I’ll get Suárez in the A-selection'”, according to the journalist, who believes Depay is quite upset by the situation. “Memphis now squeezes him like an old thief who thought he was going to make a top transfer. But he should actually be happy, because in January he can make a transfer free, and then he puts ten million euros in his back pocket himself”.
