René van der Gijp doesn’t understand why Bayern Munich is after Sergiño Dest. According to The Telegraph and Football international This week Ajax rejected a first bid from the Germans for the nineteen-year-old right back, but Van der Gijp advises Dest to stay with Ajax. “I’ve seen him twenty times now, but am I missing something that makes that Bayern Dest wants so badly?”, the analyst asks at Veronica Inside at his table mates.

Johan Derksen does see it in Dest. “Yes, you’re missing something”, he responds to Van der Gijp. “If I was at Bayern and I had a budget… That boy is so young, and he has such walking ability and fitness, all you have to do is tactically train him. And that’s what happens between those good soccer players at practice. That’s a boy who can walk that eighty meters all the time.”

Van der Gijp is not convinced by Derksen’s arguments. “Yet I have the idea with such a boy: he’s nineteen years old… Play with Ajax for two years, man. Then you play every week. A boy like that wants to go there right away, but then I think to myself: you don’t get there right away. At nineteen, you just have to play every week, man.”

Derksen questions Ajax’s transfer policy. “What I don’t understand is Ajax’s policy. They want to train themselves, and then they are going to sell Dest and Sven Botman, two excellent defenders. An indistinct Argentinean will have to come back for that soon. I don’t understand that Dest won’t play for Ajax, by the way”, Derksen refers to Ajax’s game last Sunday at Sparta Rotterdam (0-1 win), when Noussair Mazraoui was given preference over Dest.
