Olympique Lyon has booked a minimal victory over Montpellier in the Ligue 1 on Sunday evening. Lucas Paquetá gave the team of trainer Peter Bosz the full loot with a goal in the Stade de la Mosson: 0-1. The win moves Lyon to seventh place with 22 points from 14 matches.

The first danger of the game came in the name of Florent Mollet. The midfielder was close to the opening goal, but saw his goal shatter on the crossbar. It served as a warning to Lyon, who immediately woke up with a start. Paquetá forced goalkeeper Jonas Omlin to an extreme save with a shot into the left corner and not much later the Brazilian midfielder was hit. Islam Slimani shot a cross from Malo Gusto into the crossbar from close range, after which Paquetá thoughtfully headed in the rebound: 0-1.

The team of coach Bosz took matters into their own hands after the opening goal and via Slimani also got a serious opportunity to double the margin. However, the attacker headed a free kick centimeters past the right post. Montpellier showed himself again after the break for Anthony Lopes’ goal. Mollet received a tailor-made cross, but his effort was too weak and therefore an easy prey for the Lyon goalkeeper. The supporters once again stood behind the home team and this led, among other things, to a shot from distance from Stephy Mavididi.

Due to Montpellier’s direct play, Bosz’s team increasingly lost control of the game. The Dutch coach decided to exchange Slimani and Jérôme Boateng for Damien Da Silva and Moussa Dembélé. The substitutions immediately had the desired effect, because Karl Toko Ekambi had the perfect opportunity to double the margin. Goalkeeper Omlin, however, got in the way with a good save.
