In 2022, football players and clubs are more active than ever on social media. Top players such as Lionel Messi, Memphis Depay, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well as national and international clubs, provide an insight into the ins and outs (almost) daily via Instagram, Twitter or other internet channels. Football zone put the craziest, most beautiful and most striking posts on social media in the VZ Social section.

Juninho has playfully responded to a revelation from L’Equipe† The French newspaper claimed on Tuesday that there was a breakdown in cooperation between Olympique Lyon and Marcelo at the beginning of this year after the Brazilian defender farted in the dressing room. In August, Marcelo was banned from the first roster. The defender would not have been welcome anymore due to ‘inappropriate behaviour’ after the match against Angers (3-0 loss). Last winter he was sold to Girondins Bordeaux.

According to L’Equipe the ban had to do with a fart Marcelo allegedly let out. Marcelo took to Twitter to respond to the allegations. “Thanks to L’Équipe, I’m back on Twitter for the first time in a long time to deny all accusations. Journalism is a joke these days.” Juninho, technical director at Lyon, could not resist responding to the Brazilian’s tweet. “I told you. A fart has to be hard and long and it has to stink. Yours was only hard, then it’s a really bad fart.”
