Feyenoord is investigating the possibilities of taking over Nassef Chourak from Ajax’s youth academy, it knows Ajax Showtime to be revealed on Tuesday. The left-footed midfielder (17) of Ajax Under 18 has reportedly already been informed of the interest from Rotterdam. Chourak, who will be celebrating his eighteenth birthday in July, does not have a contract in Amsterdam, which means that Feyenoord only has to pay a training fee for the youngster.

Chourak has been followed by scouts from Feyenoord for a long time. Two years ago, before Brexit was introduced in Britain, the young midfielder was on Chelsea’s list. Chourak, coveted by Feyenoord, who has been playing in Ajax’s youth department since mid-2018, had a strong start at Sportpark De Toekomst, but in the past year and a half he has been thrown back a bit due to persistent injuries.

The Ajax talent has invariably had a basic place in Ajax Under 18 in recent weeks, which is led by trainer Jean-Paul de Jong. The technical leadership of Ajax wants Chourak as a dispensation player to play in that team next season, because it is believed that he must develop further through playing time after the injury problems. In addition, the competition in the midfield and in the right wing position is quite strong at Jong Ajax, which is why Ajax has come to this conclusion.

Chourak has a history as a youth player at Sparta Rotterdam and ADO Den Haag, before he made the step towards Ajax’s youth academy almost four years ago. In the Under 18 team, the counter stands at eleven appearances. Chourak also once participated in the UEFA Youth League. The talented midfielder has five youth international matches on behalf of the the Dutch Under 15 to his name.
