Sébastien Haller officially makes the switch from Ajax to Borussia Dortmund. The Ivorian striker provides Ajax with an amount of 31 million euros plus 3.5 million in bonuses that the team from Amsterdam can almost certainly also receive. Haller signs a five-year contract with Dortmund and thus returns to the Bundesliga after his period at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The attack leader came over from West Ham United in 2021 for 22.5 million euros. Haller scored 21 times in the Eredivisie last season and became the top scorer. He also made his debut in the Champions League this year. In his first year in the billion-dollar ball, Haller immediately scored eleven times.

Dortmund had to say goodbye to top striker Erling Haaland last season. The Norwegian super talent was taken over by Manchester City for sixty million euros. As a replacement, Dortmund already took this transfer window Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg for 30 million euros and Donyell Malen was also taken over from PSV in the summer of 2021 for the same amount. Haller will also have to deal with a new trainer at Dortmund. Marco Rose was sacked as coach of the German club in May and he will be succeeded by Edin Terzic.

Haller is very pleased with his transfer to Dortmund and paid a visit to the club at the end of June. “It’s a beautiful stadium. I can’t wait to be part of the BVB family to experience what the fans are really like. I hope to achieve great things here in the coming years.” The striker will play at Borussia wearing shirt number 9.
