Barcelona and Manchester United have agreed on the amount involved in the transfer of Frenkie De Jong. According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United will have to pay 65 million euros for the midfielder’s services and a bonus scheme of 20 million euros is still under discussion. After the clubs agree on this arrangement, Manchester United will meet with De Jong and his entourage for a personal agreement.

De Jong will sign a multi-year contract in Manchester and the personal terms should reportedly not be a stumbling block. Barcelona previously held on to an asking price of 86 million euros excluding bonuses. United’s initial offer was €60 million plus €10 million in bonuses, but this was later increased to €70 million. Romano now reports that the guaranteed transfer fee is 65 million euros and that can rise to 85 million euros due to the bonus. The conditions of this additional compensation are currently being discussed.

Manchester United also seem to have a bite at Tyrell Malacia. The left-back is currently in England to complete his transfer to United. Reportedly, all parties agree to the transfer and an amount of fifteen million euros plus two million euros in bonuses will be transferred. For a long time Malacia seemed en route to Olympique Lyon, until the Mancunians put a stop to this and grabbed the left back.

De Jong and Malacia should be the first acquisitions in the era of Erik Ten Hag in Manchester. United already reported to Ajax for Antony, although the Brazilian wing striker seems too expensive and the club is switching to other players for the offensive line. Ten Hag received a rejection from his former pupil Jürrien Timber for the positions in the back. Lisandro Martínez is also a target for the back line, but for the Argentine defender of Ajax, United also faces stiff competition from Arsenal.
