Journalist Tijmen van Wissing speaks highly of Fredrik Oppegård. The 21-year-old defender has been rented by Heracles Almelo from PSV since the winter and may seek refuge elsewhere next season. Fellow defender Sven Sonnenberg, on the other hand, is less likely to appeal to Van Wissing.

After five competition matches without a win, the Frisians proved too strong for Heracles Almelo (0-2) last Sunday at Erve Asito. The schlemiel on the home team's side was Sonnenberg, who set up Ché Nunnely's opening goal with a blunder.

The center back wanted to pass the ball back to his goalkeeper, but did so far too softly. The astute Nunnely took full advantage and poked the ball past Michael Brouwer.

“When Sonnenberg comes into the one-on-one, with Nunnely breathing down his neck… He can't close the door,” says Van Wissing in The East Stand by RTV East. “He is one of the most limited footballers in the Eredivisie. This boy was on the bench in the Kitchen Champion Division.”

Jan van Staa, who is also present in the podcast, also found Jizz Hornkamp disappointing in the match against Heerenveen. “I only saw one moment of him. That should have been included,” Van Staa said, referring to an opportunity in the 79th minute, in which the striker was set free in front of goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart after a nice through ball from Ajdin Hrustic. “That was a nice ball from Hrustic.”

Van Wissing adds: “We really have to give Van de Looi credit for that. A great purchase, just like Oppegård. As Twente I would say: behind Salah-Eddine, with so many European matches, you are looking for a left wing defender, right? You can then read about Twente's interest in Schalke 04 defender Thomas Ouwejan. I also dare to do it with Oppegård. Maybe the same type as Salah-Eddine, but really good,” said Van Wissing.

Oppegård has played eleven matches for Heracles since his arrival in the winter. On behalf of Jong PSV, he made twelve appearances in the Kitchen Champion Division during the first half of the season. Peter Bosz once called on the Norwegian youth international, who is still in Eindhoven until mid-2025. In the Champions League match with Arsenal (1-1), Oppegård was allowed to come on a minute before the end.
