Wout Weghorst did not appear at training at VfL Wolfsburg on Friday, know BILD. The attacker has been linked with a move to Burnley, where he will have to forget Chris Wood, who left Newcastle United. Wolfsburg denies that there is a possible transition and has indicated that Weghorst has worked on an individual program inside.

Jörg Schmadtke, Wolfsburg’s technical director, said earlier this week in conversation with Sports1 although there was no interest in Weghorst for the time being. “It’s surprising, especially for someone who regularly scores goals and who is known to want to make a transfer,” said Schmadtke. It was previously reported from Germany that the marriage between Weghorst and Wolfsburg could possibly come to an end this month after three and a half years.

Those rumors are fueled on Friday by BILD, which mentions the fact that Weghorst did not appear on the field during morning practice. Just like Jérôme Roussillon and John Brooks, the Dutchman shone in his absence. Josuha Guilavogui and Daniel Ginczek were also missing. According to BILD the individual program would not only have to do with personal form, but there would be more hanging over the air. In addition to Weghorst, Ginczek is also associated with a transfer. The striker is in the interest of Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Weghorst is fixed in Wolfsburg until mid-2023, but the German club does not intend to extend that commitment for the time being. One of the reasons for this, according to BILD the character of Weghorst. If the twelve-time the Dutch international does not sign, next summer will in principle be the last moment for Wolfsburg to leave him an acceptable transfer fee. The asking price of the Wölfe would currently amount to just over EUR 20 million. Reserve striker Lukas Nmecha will not return from a serious ankle injury until the end of February at the earliest.
