Manchester United has continued to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League in the Premier League. The team of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was 3-1 too strong for Burnley in-house due to hits from Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani. Donny van de Beek proved his worth as a substitute by providing the assist with United’s third goal. The midfielder was brought in for Marcus Rashford ten minutes before time by Solskjaer. The gap with leader Manchester City is eight points again because of the victory.

United seemed to be facing a difficult game in advance, as the team was unable to win a victory in the last four encounters with Burnley at home. This time too it seemed to go wrong, when Chris Wood found the net after only two minutes. However, the striker was in an offside position on his hit, after which referee Jonathan Moss canceled the hit. On the other hand, Paul Pogba was close to the opening goal. The midfielder produced a handsome header to the top left corner, but saw his effort narrowly turned by Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

United had the better of the game in the first half, but was unable to convert the opportunities it had into the opening goal. Bruno Fernandes shot just wide and Rashford found Peacock-Farrell in his way. Ten minutes before half time, Rashford screamed for a penalty after being knocked down by James Tarkowski, but Moss did not agree. The second half was a lot more attractive to watch and immediately provided the necessary spectacle, when Greenwood quickly provided the opening goal. The winger took full advantage of a handy switch from Fernandes and shot controlled: 1-0.

United could not enjoy the lead for a long time, when Tarkowski scored the equalizer barely two minutes later. Ashley Westwood put a corner on the head of the center-back, which left Dean Henderson without a chance between three defenders of United. Solskjaer then brought in Van de Beek and saw how his team took the lead a minute later. Greenwood pulled in from the right and found the short corner with some fortune: 2-1. When Burnley went on the hunt for the tying run, Cavani ended the game. The striker was able to slide in for an empty goal on the instructions of Van de Beek: 3-1.
