Joseph Oosting is about to extend his contract with FC Twente for a year. That reports Tubantia Friday afternoon. The 52-year-old trainer, who is in his first season in Enschede, is currently contracted until mid-2026. That will soon add another year.

Oosting came over from RKC Waalwijk last summer and is having an excellent debut season in the Grolsch Veste. Twente is heading for third place in the Eredivisie, which would mean qualification for the preliminary rounds of the Champions League.

In recent days, Oosting has been heavily linked to Feyenoord, as a possible successor to Arne Slot, who is about to leave for Liverpool. With this upcoming contract extension, Feyenoord seems to be able to put an end to Oosting's name.

By the way, reports Tubantia that Oosting and Twente have been discussing breaking his contract for a long time. This extension is therefore separate from Feyenoord's alleged interest.

Both parties have now reached an agreement in broad terms. As a result, Oosting will soon be fixed in Enschede until mid-2027.

“I'm far from done here and I really want to stay at FC Twente. We are working on something beautiful,” he quotes Tubantia Oosting. “There will undoubtedly be bad times to come, but that is separate from everything. I'm at a great club that is in full development and I work with a bunch of great people. I am truly proud that I am a trainer of FC Twente and that I will remain so.”

Technical director Arnold Bruggink is also happy with the upcoming contract extension. “Something has been set in motion here that is perhaps still underestimated: we are not sixth, but third! But in addition to that top performance, I am also very enthusiastic about the way we work. Joseph is ambitious, sets the bar high and pays plenty of attention to the individual development of players. He radiates in everything that he is enjoying himself and is proud to be the trainer of FC Twente. And we like to see that.”
