Only a medical examination separates Richarlison from a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. According to Fabrizio Romano and several leading English media outlets, the Spurs broadly agreed with Everton on the transfer of the 25-year-old attacker, which should cost about 70 million euros (including bonuses). Due to the upcoming transfer of Richarlison, the spotlight is increasingly on the number two protagonist in Everton’s transfer summer: Steven Bergwijn.

Richarlison, who has scored 53 goals in 153 games since coming to Goodison Park in 2018, ranks as key target for Tottenham manager Antonio Conte to attack the Spurs to give more depth. The Brazilian was also reportedly high on the list at Chelsea, but that has chosen to pick up compatriot Raphinha for around 75 million euros from Leeds United. The arrival of Richarlison only focuses the spotlight more on Bergwijn. It was already known that the Dutchman wanted to leave; now that the interested Everton has a spot freed up in the attack it only makes the situation more interesting.

De Telegraaf: Everton offers Bergwijn better than Ajax

The Telegraph wrote that tuesday the Toffees ‘be concrete for weeks’ for Bergwijn. According to the newspaper, the club has made a better offer than Ajax, which also yearns for the arrival of the 24-year-old attacker. Since the English media reported that Bergwijn was being offered as exchange for Richarlison’s transfer, journalist Mike Verweij referred that news to the realm of fables. Tottenham would have offered Bergwijn plus twenty million euros, which was rejected by Everton.

However, Ajax still seems to have the best papers to bring in the 22-time the Dutch international. The Athletic last week already reported an outline agreement with Tottenham, regarding a transfer fee of around 25 million euros. It is probably a fixed transfer fee and on top of that there is a small amount of possible bonuses. The international of the Dutch national team must therefore become the most expensive player in the history of the Eredivisie.
