Juventus will make another attempt to bring in Memphis Depay in the winter transfer window, the Spanish sports newspaper reports Sport. This news is not entirely surprising, as the striker of the Dutch national team was also in the focus of the club from Turin last summer. However, Depay hesitated for so long that la Vecchia Signora transferred and chose Arkadiusz Milik.

The former Ajax player is doing well in Northern Italy with five goals so far. However, Milik is on loan from Olympique Marseille for a season, making it unlikely that he will also wear the Juventus shirt next season. The club of trainer Massimiliano Allegri would like to see more attacking reinforcements due to the sporty season and would like to resume the discontinued negotiations with Barcelona and Depay after the World Cup. In Catalonia, there seems to be little future for Depay. The Murderer, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, has competition from, among others, Robert Lewandowski, who is regarded as the undisputed number one in the striker position.

Barcelona coach Xavi would like to welcome new players in January, but to realize that, the club will first have to sell. Due to Depay’s role in the second tier, Barcelona would be open to renewed negotiations with Juventus. The Italians have had a dramatic season from a sporting point of view. The club is only eighth in the Serie A and the title seems to be a utopia, partly due to an unleashed Napoli. The club has also seen better days in the Champions League. After the 4-3 defeat at Benfica, only the battle with Maccabi Haifa for third place remains for Juventus. For that, Juventus will have to get a better result than the team from Haifa in the last group match, given the earlier 2-0 defeat in Israel.

Sport also reported Galatasaray’s interest in Depay ten days ago. The Turkish top club would keep a close eye on his situation and would like to make an attempt for the eighty-time international in the winter transfer window. Should that transfer go ahead, Depay will face competition from, among others, Mauro Icardi. Until the transfer window opens in January, however, Depay has other concerns on his mind. The striker suffered a hamstring injury in the Nations League match with Poland (0-2 win) and has still not recovered from it. Xavi did indicate that he expected the Dutchman back for the duel with Almería on November 5. After that game, the game against Osasuna will follow, after which LaLiga will resume at the end of December, after the World Cup.
