Latest update:

After the match against SC Heerenveen (2-0), Guus Til discussed the altercation he had with Bas Nijhuis during the match. An angry Til attacked Nijhuis after he felt he had been fouled. In front of the cameras ESPN Til can only laugh at the moment.

“What was that about?!”, a laughing Til repeats the interviewer's question. “I think it was clear what it was about! Bas was a bit East Indian deaf so I just kept running after him. That looked a bit strange,” the PSV player admits.

Til's anger arose after a situation in which he entered into a sprint duel with Heerenveen player Olsson. Nijhuis ruled that there was a pull from both sides. Til did not exactly share that reading.

“I think I'm faster than Olsson, so why should I pull?” the midfielder asks afterwards. The midfielder looks back at the images with furrowed eyebrows and a smile.

“Yes, he was approachable here, but I first had to run after him for another twenty minutes. At the end he said: I heard you, but I ran away from you first, because you were too emotional.”

“At first I thought he was going to give me a yellow card! I thought: it won't anyway. At the end of the day, we're just good with each other, but in the heat of the moment Can I still show some emotion?”, concludes the maker of the 1-0.

Kenneth Perez
After watching the interview, Kenneth Perez was full of praise for Nijhuis. “I thought Nijhuis did that very well, first letting Til rage a bit,” the analyst argues. “He treats football players the way you should treat football players.”
