Feyenoord managed to capture fifteen-year-old Antoni Milambo for a long time on Thursday. The young attacking midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the team from Rotterdam and hopes to be able to grow to the first team in the coming years. For Feyenoord, the stay of Milambo, who has already been watched by Manchester United scouts in the past and has been on the radar of more Premier League clubs, is a nice boost.

“When I was ten years old and ended up at Feyenoord through my amateur club De Musschen in Rotterdam, earning a contract quickly became my first goal,” Milambo responds in conversation with the Algemeen Dagblad. “It’s great that it worked. I am proud, but there is more to achieve. This should only be the beginning. ”

Robert Pot, the son of assistant coach Cor Pot, is one of the mentors of the talent and he states that Milambo did not let the interest of major foreign clubs turn his head around: “Antoni is a boy from Rotterdam. South. He has one thing in mind and that is if Rotterdammer De Kuip. That foreign country will come later ”, he is certain. Pot receives support from the talent himself: “First a contract and now fighting to one day be able to make his debut in the first team of my club”, Milambo continues.

The youngster, who will celebrate his sixteenth birthday in April next year, will play his matches this season for Feyenoord Under-18. “If I succeed, I want to become a real Feyenoord basic player. I live near Lutsharel Geertruida, he has already walked this road. I talk to him sometimes. He says I have to work hard and have patience. I listen to him carefully ”, he continues. Milambo indicates that he prefers to play as number 10: “Physically I still have to grow, I play weekly against boys who are all older. But that is a good learning experience and I need it to get to where I ever want to be: in a full Kuip. ”
