Arne Slot may be the new Chelsea coach. The formation from London is looking for a new coach and according to the Guardian Slot is on a list. The current coach of Feyenoord is not the top favorite, as Mauricio Pochettino seems to be the biggest contender on the job at Stamford Bridge at the moment.

Since the sacking of Graham Potter in April, Chelsea have been on the hunt for a new manager. Frank Lampard has meanwhile been appointed as interim manager, but the intention is that there will be a new name for the group that can shape the Chelsea project in the coming years. Slot is one of the coaches on the list of the Blues can be found, along with Vincent Kompany of Burnley and Ange Postecoglou of Celtic. They come into the picture if Pochettino is not brought in.

The Argentinian, who already worked for Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton in the Premier League, is in pole position and is said to have had several serious talks with the Chelsea club management. However, Pochettino has not yet been offered the job and so writes the Guardian that the other candidates, including Slot, can still hope for a call. There has been no contact yet.

Slot, who is still committed to De Kuip until mid-2025, started his coaching career at PEC Zwolle. He was a youth trainer there, until SC Cambuur knocked on his door in 2014. In Leeuwarden, Slot first acted as assistant coach and then as head coach. AZ then brought Slot to Alkmaar in 2017 to assist John van den Brom, after which he took over in 2019. Currently, the coach from Bergentheim has been responsible for Feyenoord for over a year and a half. The upcoming national title will be his first prize in Rotterdam’s service.
