While Manchester United are keenly interested in Tammy Abraham’s services, it remains to be seen whether the AS Roma striker will play at Old Trafford next season. The Athletic reports that a clause will come into effect next summer allowing Chelsea to bring the 25-year-old striker back to Stamford Bridge for eighty million euros. The tall Englishman is still detained in Rome until mid-2026.

Abraham appears to be one of three top candidates to become United’s new striker. In recent months, the names of Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) and Victor Osimhen (Napoli) have also often been mentioned. Ten Hag will most likely say goodbye to Wout Weghorst next summer, who will in principle return to Burnley, which is almost certain of promotion to the Premier League. The Athletic know that the Red Devils are currently the most concrete for Abraham.

However, a transfer from the eleven-time England international, who has been playing for Roma since August 2021, is complicated. Chelsea has contractually agreed upon the sale of Abraham that he can be taken over again two seasons later for a doubling of the transfer fee received. Chelsea received forty million euros for the striker in the summer of 2021, and can therefore take him over again soon for eighty million euros. In addition, the Londoners themselves also seem to be looking for a striker for the long term.

According to Transfer market Abraham’s market value is now 45 million euros, which would mean that Chelsea will have to pay a lot more than he is worth. During the last transfer winter, the wealthy owner Todd Boehly showed that he does not mind. The Blues spent at least 330 million euros in January. That amount can still increase due to many bonuses. United only pulled out the wallet for Wout Weghorst, for whom a rent of three million euros has been paid. In addition, Marcel Sabitzer (Bayern Munich) and Jack Butland (Crystal Palace) came to Old Trafford on a rental basis.
