Heung-Min Son is fit enough to participate in the World Cup in Qatar, the star player of South Korea announced via a post on Instagram. Tottenham Hotspur announced in early November that the attacker needed surgery on his eye socket. The South Korean collided hard with Chancel Mbemba in the Champions League match against Olympique Marseille (1-2). A day later, Londoners reported that surgery was necessary as the fracture around his eye needed to be stabilized.

“Hello everyone. I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for all the messages of support I’ve received over the past week,” Son writes on Instagram. “I really appreciate it. In a difficult period I have been able to get a lot of strength from this! Playing for your country at the World Cup is the dream of so many growing children, just as it was a dream of mine. I don’t want to miss this for anything. I can’t wait to represent our beautiful country, see you soon, Sonny.”

Son lets South Korea breathe a sigh of relief with his Instagram post. The thirty-year-old attacker, who is also captain of his country, will be the first to take on the Uruguay of Luis Suárez in more than two weeks at the World Cup in Group H. After that, there are still group matches against Ghana and Portugal on the program.
