Sir Alex Ferguson is not pleased with the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo had to settle for a role as a substitute against Everton (1-1). The former Manchester United manager says that in a chat with Khabib Nurmagomedov, images of which have surfaced. Ferguson believes that a coach ‘should always start with the best players’. Ronaldo came into play against Everton for Edinson Cavani after an hour of play, after which the visitors came alongside not much later.
The video shows Ferguson and Nurmagomedov, a well-known fighter, after the game with Everton. “The opponent also sees that Ronaldo is not playing,” said Ferguson. “I know he came in, but you always have to start with your best players.” With this, the Scottish former manager seems to give a sneer at the method of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The latter started with Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Cavani in the base.

Ronaldo himself did not seem to speak about his reserve role. The star player walked around annoyed and muttered to himself afterwards as he made his way to the catacombs. According to Gary Neville, Ronaldo’s grumpy response increases pressure on his trainer. “I saw the game and saw it run afterwards, it didn’t make me happy,” Neville said as an analyst at Sky Sports. “Is Cristiano upset if he doesn’t play?
