Bjørn Johnsen is almost a player of SC Cambuur, knows the Leeuwarder Courant. The Norwegian striker is currently in Leeuwarden to finalize the final details of his contract. Johnsen is best known for his time at ADO Den Haag, where he scored no less than nineteen Eredivisie goals in the 2017/18 season.

The now 31-year-old striker was until recently under contract with the Canadian Montréal. Johnsen ran out of his contract there on January 1, which means that he can be picked up by Cambuur on a free transfer. There they are eager for offensive reinforcements: with eleven goals, the Leeuwarders are still the least scoring Eredivisie team. Earlier this month, Mimoun Mahi was also picked up at FC Utrecht, but he still has to become match fit.

Johnsen was taken over by ADO from the Scottish Heart of Midlothian in the summer of 2017. It was a resounding success as he finished second on the top scorers list behind Alireza Jahanbakhsh the following season. The latter earned a transfer to England with his productivity and AZ brought in Johnsen as a replacement. In Alkmaar, however, the Norwegian disappointed.

After periods at Rosenborg, Ulsan Hyundai and thus Montréal, Johnsen is now facing a return to the Dutch fields. Cambuur already saw a striker leave last week in the person of Tom Boere and was also associated with Tim Matavz. SCC strengthened this month in addition to Mahi and (possibly) Johnsen with Ben Rienstra and Navarone Foor. Johnson is reportedly still working on his fitness with a personal trainer.
