PSV will face stiff competition in the battle for Thorgan Hazard. The Telegraphjournalist Jeroen Kapteijns reports that Everton is also keen on the arrival of the 29-year-old attacker from Borussia Dortmund. Football International and the Eindhovens Dagblad. revealed on Sunday that PSV is in talks with Hazard. The Belgian must fill the gap left by Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke in Eindhoven.

Hazard currently enjoys a reserve role in Germany and a departure therefore does not seem out of the question. Of all the wingers who have recently been associated with PSV, the arrival of Hazard seems the most likely. The Belgian is currently in talks with general manager Marcel Brands and has also indicated that he is open to going to Eindhoven. Hazard is not always assured of playing time in Dortmund and came in as a substitute in no fewer than 15 of his 21 matches this season. In Eindhoven, his perspective on minutes seems a lot more favourable.

However, according to Kapteijns, Everton could be a spoilsport for PSV. The Toffees, who recently sacked manager Frank Lampard due to disappointing results, see Hazard as the main candidate to strengthen the attack. Everton are currently in a disappointing nineteenth place in the Premier League and have only won three of their twenty league games. It is not the first time this transfer period that PSV and Everton are aiming for the same offensive reinforcement. Both clubs were linked with Horace Danjuma, who eventually last minute chose a switch to Tottenham Hotspur over Everton.

Adnan Januzaj (Sevilla) and Anthony Elanga (Manchester United) are also still high on PSV’s list. The former would also be interested in a transfer, but it Eindhovens Dagblad wrote on Saturday that “it doesn’t seem a viable or desirable card.” The local newspaper of Eindhoven previously reported that a rental transfer from Elanga is probably too ambitious for PSV. The name of Donyell Malen – Hazard’s teammate – has also been dropped, but he is also not considered feasible.
