Latest update:

Internazionale sees Sam Beukema (25) as the ideal successor to Francesco Acerbi (36), writes the Italian Corriere dello Sport Thursday. The center defender from Deventer is having an excellent season with Bologna in the Serie A. Beukema is still at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara until mid-2027, but may quickly make a next step to the Italian top.

Bologna took over Beukema from AZ for 9 million euros last summer. With the Dutch man in the center back, coach Thiago Motta's team is in a solid fourth place in Serie A, which entitles them to Champions League football.

Beukema has already played 28 official matches in the Bologna shirt. According to Transfer market the right leg is now worth 15 million euros. Corriere dello Sport knows that Inter have the defender in their sights. Beukema is seen as the perfect replacement for Acerbi, who is still in Milan until mid-2025. Stefan de Vrij's contract also expires that summer.

However, Internazionale wants to sign Beukema next summer, so that he can be there immediately if Acerbi and De Vrij leave. Beukema's price tag would also currently be less high than that of central defenders such as Perr Schuurs (24) and Riccardo Calafiori (21). Internazionale therefore wants to strike while Beukema is still relatively cheap.

Interview

Spoke in November last year Football zone expanded with the candid Beukema. The defender said, among other things, that he dreams of the Dutch national team. “I know very well that the competition in the Dutch team is fierce, so perhaps that is something for the longer term. As long as I continue to perform weekly in Serie A, nothing is impossible. Who knows, I might need a next step to reach that level, but you never know.”

That next step for Beukema may follow very soon due to the interest of Internazionale. I Nerazzurri are currently at the top of Serie A with 79 points from 30 games. Close pursuer AC Milan has only collected 65 points. Juventus is third with 59 points, while number four Bologna with 57 points has built up a good lead over AS Roma (52 points).

However, Beukema's absolute dream club does not play in Italy. “It would be great if I could ever play for West Ham again, although the entire Premier League is the ultimate for me. I hope I can experience that again someday.”
