The KNVB licensing committee for professional football will start an investigation into Alex Kroes, the suspended general manager of Ajax. During his time as a director of AZ, the fifty-year-old from Utrecht already owned shares in the Amsterdam record champion and thus violated the rules of the Dutch Football Association. The KNVB will submit Kroes' case to the licensing committee, the football association said after questions from the national newspaper. “The Guideline guaranteeing independence and continuity of license holder stipulates that directors of a football club may not directly or indirectly own shares in another professional football club.” de Volkskrant.
