The transfer from Pablo Rosario to OSG Nice came unexpectedly for trainer Roger Schmidt. The day before the return in the second preliminary round of the Champions League against Galatasaray, the PSV coach discusses the completed transfers of Donyell Malen and Rosario. In particular, the departure of the latter came as a surprise to the coach.

In front of ‘s camera ESPN Schmidt reacts for the first time to the departure of his former pupils. “It was no surprise that Malen would leave. It was clear that an agreement would be reached and Borussia Dortmund would buy him. I wish him every success because Donyell is a great player and a great person. He played an important role in reaching second place last season,” said the coach. Malen signed a five-year contract with the German top club on Tuesday and will provide PSV with approximately thirty million euros plus bonuses (approximately four million euros).

John de Jong, director of football affairs at PSV, reacts on the official website of the club with pride about the trajectory of the attacker and his ‘deserved’ transfer. “Donyell has developed in recent years in the way we like to see at PSV. He came to the club as a talent, developed into a full selection member after a strong first season with Jong PSV and subsequently became one of PSV’s supporting players. We have been delighted to follow his development in recent years and see this transfer again as a confirmation of the course we are sailing as a club. Donyell makes a nice and big step in his career. We are very proud of that,” said De Jong.

On Tuesday, OGC Nice also announced the transfer of Rosario, who is reportedly leaving for six million euros, through the official channels. Although the midfielder’s wish to leave was known to Schmidt, the ‘sudden’ transfer came as a surprise to the choice lord. “It was a bit surprising to me. The transfer suddenly came up this weekend and it happened very quickly. A few years ago, he already announced his wish to leave: he indicated that he is ready for abroad. That opportunity now presented itself and in the end we agreed to a transfer,” says Schmidt, who also indicates that he is looking for two replacements.
