Aad de Mos blames the club itself that Mohamed Ihattaren does not threaten to make it at PSV. According to the retired trainer, nineteen-year-old Ihattaren has been ‘pampered’ at PSV for too long in the past and he lacks the poison to fight back. “Ihattaren is undoubtedly the most talented player in PSV’s training. The problem is that he has been pampered by people within the club for far too long,” De Mos said. The Telegraph.

Ihattaren has, certainly not for the first time in the past year, called in sick and is therefore not in Istanbul with PSV for the return match in the second qualifying round of the Champions League against Galatasaray. The attacking midfielder’s contract expires next year and a break with PSV seems inevitable. “At this moment in his career he is fun for the circus,” said De Mos. “Trainers look at the return. I don’t think Ihattaren has the poison to fight back.”

According to the former PSV coach, things went wrong with Ihattaren early in the youth academy. “He was supervised by CIOS trainers who mainly thought about their own resume”, De Mos knows. “They gave him all kinds of privileges because they wanted to win matches and tournaments. Adil Ramzi, Theo Lucius, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Mark van Bommel all tried to correct that later as trainers. That did not work.”

Ihattaren now has to tolerate Noni Madueke in the pecking order. “That has become the new gem at PSV”, says De Mos. “Madueke is dangerous, can pass a man, gets to the back line and has much more return. Trainer Roger Schmidt makes a good choice by granting him a starting place. For Ihattaren, a transfer is the best option, De Mos believes. not complicated. Ihattaren is best off at another club. VfL Wolfsburg, where Mark van Bommel is a trainer, would be a logical step. He gets on well with him.” Van Bommel previously admitted to find Ihattaren an interesting player, but there does not seem to be any concrete interest from Wolfsburg at the moment.
