Real Madrid wants to provide a surprise on the final day of the transfer window by taking over Jules Koundé from Sevilla, it knows Onda Cero to report. To enable the arrival of the 22-year-old French centre-back, Jesus Vallejo must first be sold. In addition, Sevilla will only let go if Koundé’s buyout clause is activated, which means that he will have to pay 75 to 80 million euros.

Koundé has been heavily associated with Chelsea lately. French journalist Nabil Djellit, who works for, among others, France Football, however, reported on Monday evening that Sevilla has rejected a €55 million offer and will only let Koundé go if his €75-80 million buyout clause is activated. “Koundé has the chance to leave the club if someone is willing to pay his buyout clause,” Seville sporting director Monchi said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“Chelsea made an offer last week and it was not to our liking. If we don’t get an offer that makes us feel like it could be a good investment, we won’t accept it,” said Monchi. Sevilla paid 25 million euros in the summer of 2019 to take over Koundé from Girondins de Bordeaux. The contract of the French centre-back – who played 91 games for Sevilla and won the Europa League with the Spanish club – will continue until mid-2024. Real Madrid would like to create a surprise by stealing Koundé on the final day of the transfer window at Seville.

Then Vallejo must first be sold. The 24-year-old centre-back has returned to Real Madrid after a loan period at Granada and has a contract until mid-2025. Vallejo was acquired by Real Madrid from Real Zaragoza in 2015 and was subsequently loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Granada. He has provisionally played nineteen official games for Real Madrid, which will probably also strengthen with Eduardo Camavinga from Stade Rennais on the last day of the transfer window.
