Georginio Wijnaldum may be involved in a deal between Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain over Tanguy Ndombélé, reports the Daily Mail. Tottenham and PSG are currently negotiating Ndombélé, who would also be in the interest of AS Roma. However, the midfielder himself is interested in a move to Paris.

The Athletic wrote last week that PSG is looking for reinforcements for the midfield because there are doubts about Wijnaldum. The the Dutch international exchanged Liverpool transfer-free for the French top club last summer, but does not leave an indelible impression for the time being. Wijnaldum has so far played 25 official games for PSG, 15 of which as a starting player and in which he was good for 3 goals and 2 assists.

Wijnaldum is currently struggling with an ankle injury, which he sustained during the home game against Stade Brest and will probably keep him sidelined for several weeks. For that reason, Wijnaldum was not part of the selection for the game between PSG and Stade Reims (4-0) on Sunday-evening. That would les Parisiens however, did not deter Wijnaldum from involving Wijnaldum in a deal with Tottenham over Ndombélé.

Ndombélé was presented at Tottenham in 2019 as the most expensive purchase in club history. An amount of sixty million euros was transferred to Olympique Lyon for this. After two and a half years, however, it now seems that the disappointing employment of the seven-time French international in England is coming to an end. Ndombélé has been training separately from the A-selection for a while and has been explicitly linked to a switch to AS Roma or PSG in recent days.

“I don’t talk about Ndombélé because he doesn’t play at our club. PSG is open to progress, to improvement. Everything is open and there is still a week to go,” said Mauricio Pochettino on the rumors about Ndombélé. The current PSG trainer was a strong supporter of his arrival as manager of Tottenham in 2019. Tottenham are already preparing for a scenario in which Ndombélé leaves and has a list ready with possible successors. Sofyan Amrabat would be one of the names on that list.
