Peter Bosz must seriously fear for his job after Sunday. The trainer was mercilessly dried off by Stade Rennes with Olympique Lyon in-house: 2-4. Due to the great defeat LOL dropped to a very disappointing tenth place. The only bright spot for Bosz are the performances in the Europa League, in which FC Porto was won on Thursday (0-1).

Thiago Mendes let his direct opponent Benjamin Bourigeaud escape in the depths in the eleventh minute, after which the Rennes winger simply shot the ball in: 0-1. Two minutes later it was already 0-2, when Baptiste Santamaria hit the target after a corner kick from sixteen meters. Lyon then had a stronger period, but was unable to score and was dealt a new damper in injury time of the first half.

Bosz’s credo to continue to build up in the back under all circumstances cost the home team dearly. Goalkeeper Anthony Lopes sent a too weak pass under pressure, after which Bourigeaud intercepted and Lovro Majer could easily shoot in: 0-3. A rock hard shot from the distance in Martin Terrier’s crossing made it even worse for Lyon a few minutes after the break: 0-4.

After an hour of play, Bosz also saw his own team score. Karl Toko-Ekambi headed from a corner to the far corner, after which Hamari Traoré worked the ball into his own goal: 1-4. Moussa Dembélé was able to limit the damage further with a late penalty: 2-4.
