Besiktas has lost points in the Turkish Süper Lig. On a visit to mid-engine Fatih Karagümrük, the team of coach Senol Günes did not get further than a 1-1 draw. Besiktas had won the previous five league games, but couldn’t bring mid-engine Karagümrük to their knees. Due to the draw, Besiktas is stuck in fourth place. The gap to leader Galatasaray is now nine points.
The home team immediately took control against Besiktas. Karagümrük became dangerous via ex-Feyeno player Colin Kazim-Richards and Fabio Borini. After more than twenty minutes, coach Andrea Pirlo’s team thought they would get a penalty kick when Borini was knocked out in the box. The referee was called aside by the VAR, but found no violation. This much to the dissatisfaction of the home team. A few minutes later, the goal fell on the other side. First Cenk Tosun hit the crossbar. Shortly afterwards, Karagümrük’s defense was unable to clear a cross and Tosun rammed in from close range: 0-1.

In the second half, the home team went looking for the equalizer and that succeeded quite smoothly. Besiktas’ defense shot, Borini found Magomed Ozdoev and the Russian shot in hard: 1-1. Besiktas went looking for the lead with all his might and became dangerous through substitute Jackson Muleka and Dele Alli. However, both did not have their sights sharp. Fifteen minutes before the end, Karagümrük claimed another penalty. The referee waved this off again. Besiktas insisted, but Günes’ team could no longer become really dangerous.
