Elvis Manu returns to the Eredivisie. The attacker is rented by FC Groningen for the rest of the season from the Bulgarian Botev Plovdiv the Pride of the North known. Manu previously played in the Eredivisie for Feyenoord, SC Cambuur and Go Ahead Eagles. As far as we know, Groningen has not been able to stipulate an option to purchase during the negotiations.

Groningen had been looking for offensive reinforcements for some time. With only twenty hits, Dennis van der Ree’s team is one of the worst scoring teams in the Eredivisie. Technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus confirmed earlier this week RTV North although talks with offensive reinforcements were at an advanced stage. Earlier this window, Groningen also turned out to be very active on the transfer market with four new acquisitions.

Manu was admitted to Feyenoord’s youth academy in 2005. The team from Rotterdam then first stabled him for a year in the youth at Excelsior. In 2012 he made his debut in professional football at Feyenoord, after which he ended up in England again via Excelsior and SC Cambuur at Brighton and Hove Albion and later Huddersfield Town. After a rental period at Go Ahead Eagles, he then wore out three Turkish clubs, to settle in Bulgaria in 2020 at Ludogorets. He is now coming to Groningen on a rental basis via Wisla Krakow and Botev Plovdiv.

“Elvis is a player who has already experienced a lot in his career and he had the desire to show the Netherlands what he has to offer,” said Fledderus in a first reaction. “We think that Elvis can bring us speed, power, but also a certain unpredictability. In addition, he is a player who has actually scored goals everywhere under all circumstances. We therefore think that Elvis can be of immediate value to help us in our relegation battle We wish him every success.”
