Remko Pasveer can understand that André Onana’s popularity among Ajax supporters has declined. The 38-year-old goalkeeper broke his finger during the warm-up of the first game against Benfica (2-2) and is expected to be out of circulation for at least another five weeks. Due to his injury, Onana is currently again the first goalkeeper for the team from Amsterdam.

Due to his doping suspension and the refusal of a contract extension, Onana is no longer popular among Ajax supporters. According to Pasveer, however, the Cameroonian closing entry remains stoic. “André is more doing his own thing and I also do my own thing,” the experienced closing post refers to his own recovery. myself, but it’s a completely different phase now and he has to play.”

“Of course I can relate to the supporters, I can imagine how they think,” Pasveer continues. “As an Ajax player you naturally hope that the players who have meant something in a certain period will stay, sign up or leave for a nice amount. And that is of course a shame, for the club anyway. Pasveer says that in Onana’s position he probably would not leave on a free transfer next summer. “I would place a lot of value on the appreciation and what you owe to a club.”

Due to the injuries of Pasveer, Jay Gorter and Maarten Stekelenburg, Przemyslaw Tyton was presented last week as a new goalkeeper to solve Ajax’s goalkeeper problem. “When I went to PSV, he just left, so I knew him a little bit,” says Pasveer. “I haven’t followed him for the rest, so I have no idea what he’s like, etc. I am also more focused on my recovery in the hope that I can be in a few more games at the end of the season.”
