The ME had to intervene on Tuesday evening in the run-up to the derby between Quick Boys and VV Katwijk. In Katwijk, supporters of both clubs got into a fight on the field. Broadcasting West also reports that an officer has been attacked.
Broadcasting West shows images showing that supporters of the fellow villagers seek a confrontation with each other. Dozens of supporters take to the field and some also clash with each other. The images also show that both groups of supporters throw fireworks at each other. The riots started around 6.15 pm, about 45 minutes before the derby between Katwijk and Quick Boys would start. The ME eventually had to intervene to restore order. Calm is said to have returned around 6.30 pm.

Due to the corona pandemic and the suspension of the competition, both amateur clubs have not met each other for more than two years. The match in the Second Division will be completed on Tuesday evening at the Quick Boys sports complex, which is currently ninth with 28 points from 19 matches. Katwijk is proud to lead with 43 points. The lead of trainer Anthony Correia’s team on the first attacker AFC is currently eleven points.
