Olympique Lyon does not intend to sell Ryan Cherki this winter, chairman Jean-Michel Aulas said. Paris Saint-Germain sees the nineteen-year-old wing attacker as the ideal replacement for Pablo Sarabia, who left for Wolverhampton Wanderers for five million euros earlier this month. PSG made an offer for Cherki. Aulaus, however, was unimpressed, calling the offer “an insult.”

French media reported last Wednesday that PSG is expressly interested in Cherki. However, Aulas immediately spoke plain language and let it be known les Gones are not prepared to sell the youth product during the winter transfer window. “Rayan is a child of the club. It is no surprise to us that he is performing well and it also makes us proud of our youth academy. It is extremely important that he remains part of our project.”

Aulas went opposite RMC Sports elaborates on PSG’s interest in Cherki. “I have spoken with Nasser al-Khelaifi for a long time. He called me Saturday night to see if we could negotiate Rayan. I told him that this is not possible, after which he indicated that PSG will not make a new offer. I thank him for this direct and sincere contact. We didn’t negotiate, the first offer was abusive.”

Cherki has been followed by PSG for several years. The Parisians already tried to recruit him in 2019 before he signed his first professional contract with Lyon. So far he made 82 appearances for Lyon, in which he was good for 13 goals and 10 assists. Lyon did sell Malo Gusto to Chelsea on Sunday. The right back will finish the season on a rental basis with the French mid-engine and will leave for Stamford Bridge next summer for reportedly 35 million euros.
