The Senegalese attacker Bamba Dieng should be the next addition to Royal Antwerp, reports L’Equipe. Technical director Marc Overmars would like to make an offer of around seven million euros on behalf of the Antwerpers for the Olympique Marseille player, who would then become a competitor of Vincent Janssen. The transfer can still take place, because where the transfer storm in the Netherlands has already settled, the market in Belgium is still open until September 6.

Dieng’s name has been singing around in the rumor circuit all summer. Transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano reported last week that the attacker would leave for Leeds United. This was before OGC Nice came forward and at the last minute Dieng expressed his preference for the French club. He traveled to Nice but did not pass the medical examination there. An earlier transfer to Lorient also fell through.

Now his name is singing around at Antwerp. The leader in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League would have about seven million euros left for the striker. It is still unclear whether Overmars’ offer is enough for Marseille. Should he switch to the Bosuil, then Janssen will get a new competitor. With Michael Frey, Janssen already had a formidable competitor in the Belgian port, but the Swiss was injured in the match against KAA Gent (1-2 win).

Dieng has played 42 games for so far l’OM, scored nine times and was good for three assists. He is still with the French until mid-2024. In both matches against Feyenoord in the semifinals of the Conference League, he was in the base at Marseille. This season, the striker is not in the plans of his new coach Igor Tudor.
