Noa Lang finds it remarkable that few professional football players dare to say publicly that they will go out sometimes, the 24-year-old PSV attacker said in the Pingelaars Podcast. The ten-time international of the Dutch national team is rarely found in clubs anymore, but does not understand why there is a taboo among football players. Lang believes that there is more than just football.

When the subject of going out comes up, Lang sets one condition for a good night out. “When I go out I really have to drink soppie (drink, ed.), otherwise I might as well stay osso (at home, ed.).”

For Lang, going out has changed since he became a famous football player, but that doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy a night out. “Imagine if we become champions, then I’ll go all out, right?”

Lang tries to avoid going out, especially during football season. “It’s just not for me. I just can’t sleep late and then get up early again. Then I’m just a zombie man. There are times when I do go, but it’s at good times. Very occasionally. Then I won’t be able to get away once I really get soppy.”

Lang has no problem saying that he sometimes drinks alcohol. “I’m not that hypocrite boy who says he doesn’t drink alcohol. When I go out, I don’t mind a drink.” Rapper and co-host Jack notes that there is a taboo surrounding football players and alcohol. Lang doesn’t want to know anything about that.

“I think that’s bullshit, man!”, said the candid PSV player. “It’s really bullshit. I am a football player, but I am also a human being and a father.” Lang believes that footballers should have more freedom in what they do outside the field.

Memphis Depay
The Capellen resident sees Atlético Madrid striker Depay as a good example of someone who does not care about the opinions of others. “Believe me, he doesn’t care about what you say about him. I learned a lot from that. Now I’m blessa (injured, ed.), say what you want, I don’t care. Just talk is fine. I really hear (understand, ed.) Memphis man!”

Lang has had a good relationship with Depay for a long time. As a youth player at Ajax, he already looked up to the star player of the Dutch team. “He is someone who is really busy with the new talents. He just taught me a lot and still does. Last week he suddenly texted me to ask how my hamstring was doing. He really is a pure boy.”
