The battle for European tickets in Ligue 1 reached a boiling point on Saturday evening. With one round to go, six more teams will compete for the last four remaining tickets to the European podium. OGC Nice lost, despite a goal from Justin Kluivert, a Champions League ticket after the 1-2 home defeat against Lille OSC. Furthermore, AS Monaco (second) took maximum advantage of the loss of Olympique Marseille (third) with the 4-2 win at Stade Rennes (fourth). Trainer Peter Bosz is already finished with Olympique Lyon, which recorded a 3-2 victory over Nantes. The curtain also fell for Girondins de Bordeaux, who are relegated to Ligue 2 for the first time in 31 years.

OGC Nice – Lille OSC 1-2
Kasper Dolberg was on the bench at Nice after a disappointing performance for the second time in a row, while Kluivert just started for the second time in a row. As usual, Pablo Rosario was also in the starting lineup with the home team, while Sven Botman was not in the selection at Lille. Nice opened the score after half an hour via Kluivert, who shot in from about eleven meters with a nice half volley from a low cross: 1-0. Lille turned the game after halftime on the basis of Jonathan David. The club’s top scorer first tapped in after good preparatory work by Timothy Weah and a little later was lucky that the ball rolled in front of his feet after a dribble by Zeki Celik: 1-2.

AS Monaco – Stade Brest 4-2
With Myron Boadu on the bench, the Monegasques got off to a bad start against Stade Brest, where Marco Bizot was under the bar. At the hands of Jean-Kevin Duverne and Youcef Belaili, Monaco was already behind 2-0 after 23 minutes. On the stroke of half-time, the comeback was started by Wissam Ben Yedder, who took care of the connecting goal from eleven meters. In the second act, the game turned completely over. Even before the end, thanks to a double by Ben Yedder, Monaco had turned the deficit into a 3-2 lead. In the end Kevin Volland put the final score on the scoreboard twenty minutes before the final signal: 4-2. Thanks to the win, Monaco climbed to second place in Ligue 1, because at the same time Olympique Marseille went down on a visit to Stade Rennes.

Stade Rennes – Olympique Marseille 2-0
Rennes opened the scoring in the twelfth minute. On the edge of the box, Martin Terrier gave the leather to Benjamin Bourigeaud, who made the 1-0 with a placed shot. Ten minutes before the halftime signal, the final score was put on the scoreboard. Again Terrier acted as the principal, but this time he handed in the ball to Lovro Majer. The midfielder then hit the bottom left corner: 2-0. It was a painful defeat for Marseille, which had to give up second place to Monaco. At the same time, number four Rennes took maximum advantage of Nice’s defeat and ran two points.

Girondins de Bordeaux – Lorient 0-0
Lorient sealed the fate of Bordeaux on Saturday evening. At home, coach David Guion’s team needed a victory to keep the prospect of preserving their bodies, but the ban was not broken: 0-0. In the final phase, frustration hit the home team, when substitute Gideon Mensah kicked his opponent down and received a red card. The team of Javairo Dilrosun and his associates are relegated from Ligue 1 for the first time since 1991.
