The players of Paris Saint-Germain have a few days off and this has caused a stir in Brazil again about the absence of Neymar at Pelé’s funeral. Images also surfaced on social media of a visit that teammates Kylian Mbappé and Achraf Hakimi paid to an NBA game.
Mbappé and Hakimi are known to be big fans of basketball and the NBA, so the friends flew to New York to attend the meeting between the Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs. Afterwards they had a small chat with some players of the Nets and they received a shirt from star player Kevin Durant. They also had their photo taken with, among others, American Football player Ahmad Gardner.

The two World Cup visitors have been given a few days off from their club. Another match for Paris Saint-Germain is only scheduled for this Friday, January 6. A duel for the Coupe de France against Châteauroux is then scheduled. At an earlier stage, Neymar announced that he would not travel to Brazil for Pelé’s funeral. His father does the honors. However, media in Brazil do not understand why Neymar did not bother to fly to his home country, as Hakimi and Mbappé could also fly to the other side of the world.
Neymar was suspended for last Sunday’s lost Ligue 1 match against Lens (3-1) because he had received a red card against Strasbourg a few days earlier. He was therefore not part of PSG’s squad for the meeting with Lens last weekend anyway. His club reportedly understood if Neymar had flown to Brazil for the funeral, but he chose to stay in Paris.
