AS Monaco did good business on Sunday in the battle for fourth place in Ligue 1. Partly thanks to a goal from Myron Boadu, they won 1-2 at SC Angers. It was the Dutch attacker’s first goal since February 19. It was not the best goal of the afternoon, by the way, because it came in the name of Aleksandr Golovin. With four rounds to go, Monaco is five points ahead of pursuers Lille OSC and is therefore close to a ticket for the group stage of the Europa League.
Particularities:
Golovin gave his calling card in the final minute of the first half. The Russian left winger did not think twice when he was played and curled the ball up from about twenty meters and beautifully into the top right corner: 0-1. After an hour of play, Boadu was the final destination of a fast counter from Monaco. The striking shot from close by was the first goal for the former AZ player in almost three months. It became even more exciting when Abdallah Sima headed for the tying goal. There were strong protests on the Monaco side, as the visitors felt they should have had a throw-in before the goal, and not Angers. Boadu and associates held on in the final phase and recorded an important victory for the European places.
