Leeds United made a statement on Monday evening against the plans for the Super League. The club’s players wore special shirts in the warm-up before the match against Liverpool with the message on the back: Football is for the fans (football is for the supporters).

On the front of the white t-shirts of the Leeds United players was the logo of the Champions League, with the message below: Earn it (deserve it). It is interesting that Liverpool, tonight’s opponent, is part of the plans for the Super League. Along with Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal want the Reds start a European super competition, in which they are guaranteed to participate.

Liverpool supporters also expressed their dissatisfaction with the plans on Monday. Banners were hung at Anfield’s own stadium. Before the start of Leeds United – Liverpool, a plane also flew over Elland Road, the stadium of Leeds United. Behind the plane was the text #SayNoToSuperLeague.
