NAC Breda received good news on Tuesday. The residents of Breda report through the official channels that the KNVB has approved the takeover by consortium NAC=Breda. Because the sale of the shares of the Pearl of the South has been approved, NAC=Breda has been given the green light to take over those shares.

Despite the good news, there is still one hurdle to overcome. The municipality of Breda has yet to agree to the takeover, although that seems to be a formality. For example, NAC indicates that it expects the necessary approval in the short term. NAC=Breda is supported by five entrepreneurs who will guarantee the financial future of NAC and return the club to their own management.

Breda, the fans of NAC and the investors remained in uncertainty for a long time. Football International reports that some members of the KNVB’s licensing committee were on vacation, so NAC was in the waiting room. The takeover is a relief for the team of trainer Edwin de Graaf, as the club can now spend more money and attract extra players just before the start of the Kitchen Champion Division.

The lingering case took more than a year. After the dismissal of trainer Maurice Steijn, an internal power struggle arose, as a result of which smaller shareholders already left. The current major shareholders then decided to put the club up for sale. NAC will now want to continue the good feeling to Friday, when Helmond Sport is the opponent in its own Rat Verlegh Stadium.
