Angeliño is in the explicit interest of Brighton & Hove Albion, reports the German Sky Sports. The Spaniard has become redundant at RB Leipzig, which beckons a return to the Premier League. Brighton appears to be selling Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, putting the Spanish left-back in the picture as a replacement for his compatriot.

For a long time, not Chelsea, but Manchester City seemed to become Cucurella’s new destination. However, Chelsea were willing to go further than their Manchester competitor, trumping City manager Pep Guardiola, who was eager to sign his compatriot. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Londoners have now reached a personal agreement with Cucurella, so that nothing seems to stand in the way of a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Brighton has Angeliño in mind as a successor. The former PSV and NAC Breda player had a stormy start at RB Leipzig, but the signing of David Raum from Hoffenheim will probably mean the end of Angeliño’s time in Leipzig. Raum is also Leipzig’s record purchase, which means that a departure from East Germany seems in the making for Angeliño.

The Premier League would not be new territory for Angeliño. While playing for Manchester City, he was loaned to NAC before PSV took him over. Due to a modest clause in the contract, PSV Angeliño lost again to City, where he would play six games in the Premier League before leaving for Germany. The small defender played 34 times in the Eredivisie for both PSV and NAC.
