OGC Nice suffered a hopeless defeat at home against Strasbourg on Sunday evening. Justin Kluivert, Calvin Stengs and Pablo Rosario lost 0-3 to the current number six of Ligue 1. Nice remains fourth due to the defeat, while Strasbourg moves up to sixth place. Earlier in the day, Myron Boadu recorded a 4-0 victory over FC Metz with AS Monaco, making Monaco sixth.

OGC Nice – RC Strasbourg 0-3
Nice, with Kluivert, Stengs and Rosario in the base, was unable to make a fist in attacking terms. In the first twenty minutes it was only Strasbourg that struck the clock. Walter Benítez first had to act on a shot by Ibrahima Sissoko and then a good chance was wasted by Habib Diallo. The visitors’ lead was more than deserved in the end.

After a smooth attack, Ludovic Ajorque was sent into the depths by Sissoko. The striker worked the ball while sliding past the Nice goalkeeper: 0-1. In the last ten minutes, the game was nicely closed by Strasbourg. Diallo was in the path of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde’s shot and surprised Benítez by putting the ball in behind his standing leg: 0-2. The final score was then set at 0-3, when Adrien Thomasson left the Nice goalkeeper without a chance with a subtle marker.

AS Monaco – FC Metz 4-0
The match was only two minutes old, when AS Monaco already managed to break the spell. On a pass from Gelson Martins, Soufiane Diop scored from the edge of the box: 1-0. On the stroke of half-time, the margin was doubled by trainer Niko Kovac’s team. Referee Bastien Dechepy had no choice but to put the ball on the spot after a handball from Kiki Kouyate, after which Kevin Volland left goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja no chance from eleven meters: 2-0.

On a pass from Diop, Martins further increased the score in the second half. The winger rounded off with a shot into the bottom left corner: 3-0. Boadu was replaced after an hour by Wissam Ben Yedder. The final chord was just before time for the substitute striker. Aleksandr Golovin pulled the ball from the back line, after which Ben Yedder could easily slide in: 4-0. After the match, however, coach Niko Kovac defended his decision to let Boadu start. “All players are equal, although Ben Yedder is our captain and an international. But Boadu played well and had scored his first goal (Wednesday against Angers, ed.). As a trainer you have to be fair. It was a reward to Boadu Kovac said at the press conference.
