Miralem Pjanic may return to Juventus on a rental basis in the final phase of the summer transfer period. Including the Italian journalist Romeo Agresti and La Gazzetta dello Sport will announce on Monday that the Juventus leadership will make a final decision on this on Monday evening. There has already been several contact between Juventus and the management of Pjanic, which is fixed at the Camp Nou until mid-2024.
Pjanic was still on the bench at Barcelona against Getafe (2-1 victory) on Sunday, although coach Ronald Koeman did not allow the Bosnian midfielder to play. According to Mundo Deportivo Barcelona are even willing to continue to pay half of Pjanic’s salary in order to hasten his departure from the club. The bencher was also followed by Napoli, Fiorentina and AS Roma, but Juventus appear to have the best credentials to do business with Barcelona.
Pjanic mort already under Koeman: ‘I don’t know what else to do’
The midfielder already expressed his dissatisfaction with Ronald Koeman last year.
The now 31-year-old midfielder was part of an exchange deal between Juventus and Barcelona in mid-2020. The veteran left for Spain, while Arthur Melo moved to Turin. His first season in Barcelona, however, was difficult, partly due to the not very good working relationship with Koeman. Pjanic already raised the alarm about this in March. “I want to ask Koeman to line me up for two or three games so that I can show my game. I want to help the club to win the double this season, I will never give up”, said Pjanic. Our then reported that Koeman had handed out a reprimand and wanted to discharge the midfielder this summer.
It’s no secret that Barcelona are eager to sell Pjanic. Not only does he put a heavy burden on the budget with his salary, but little has been written off on his transfer fee. The exchange deal that made Arthur Melo go the opposite way to Juventus a year ago has entered the books at Barcelona with a value of sixty million euros. Pjanic also played for Juventus between 2016 and 2020 and will have to deal with Massimiliano Allegri as coach on a permanent return. The trainer previously brought in Moise Kean as the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo who left for Manchester United.
