Jordan Henderson has called an emergency meeting between the leaders of the Premier League clubs to discuss the Super League, the Daily Mail to report. The English newspaper writes that the Liverpool captain and midfielder will lead the players’ reaction against the much-discussed plans for the new European competition. The meeting is organized by the Daily Mail called ‘significant’, because representatives of the six English Super League clubs and of the other Premier League clubs will join.

Henderson was also previously the designer of the gesture of the Premier League players towards the English health organization NHS in the corona pandemic. For example, a fund was set up, which raised millions for the NHS. Now Henderson is also the architect behind a meeting of the Premier League captains about the Super League. It will probably be discussed here how the players will comment on the plan in the near future, as it is predicted that they will be ‘under a microscope’ next weekend.

Incidentally, the Premier League will also be played midweek this week. For example, Liverpool took on Leeds United on Monday evening, which made a statement by wearing shirts in the warm-up with the text Earn it under the Champions League logo. James Milner then spoke out against a Super League after the game: “I can only say what I think about it. I don’t like the idea and hope it won’t happen. I can imagine everyone’s criticism very well and I agree with almost all of them. ”

Also within the Manchester United players group there is said to be dissatisfaction with the decision to participate in the Super League. The players are reportedly furious about the plans and made it clear to chairman Ed Woodward on Monday in an emergency meeting. Marcus Rashford takes that a little extra on Tuesday, by posting a photo of a banner at Old Trafford on Twitter. On it you can read a statement by former manager Sir Matt Busby: “Football is nothing without the fans.”

Incidentally, the fourteen other Premier League clubs sat around the table without Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal on Tuesday. “The fourteen clubs have unanimously rejected the plan for the Super League,” the Premier League wrote in a statement. “The Premier League is considering all possible means to prevent this plan from going ahead. We will work with all relevant authorities, including the government, to get the clubs to refrain from participating in this plan as soon as possible. ”
