Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano thinks Chelsea will knock on Internazionale after the World Cup to take over Denzel Dumfries. The the Dutch international was already on the wish list of the Londoners last summer and the interest has not diminished. Dumfries is doing well in Italy and so Romano says that a winter transfer will be a difficult story.

Last summer there were already reports that the English would be interested in the ex-PSV player. Dumfries would be in contention for the right-back position if César Azpilicueta were to leave. However, the Spaniard stayed. Chelsea would now be looking for a competitor for the currently injured Reece James.

Since his departure from PSV in the summer of 2021, Dumfries has become an important player at Inter. To date, the Rotterdammer has played nineteen games for i Nerazzurri in which he was accurate twice and provided three assists. According to Romano, he should cost around thirty million euros. In his Daily Brief admitted the Italian that Dumfries was also on the wish list of the Blues was standing. Then the defender decided to stay with Inter. “A winter transfer will not be an easy deal in any case,” Romano expects.

Chelsea spent a huge amount of money last summer with new owner Todd Boehly at the helm. Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana had to dig deep into their pockets. Yet the results were poor and that resulted in the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel. Under his successor Graham Potter things are not much better and in thirteen games they have already lost three times and drawn three times. Chelsea are currently seventh in the Premier League.
