Fans of FC Groningen fear for the image of their club. Various supporters will talk to the leadership of the on Thursday Pride of the North, because after a number of incidents they see that Groningen has been ‘discredited nationally’. In addition, the supporters are dissatisfied with the mediocre results.

There are more frequent consultations between fans and club management of Groningen, but according to Football International Thursday’s conversation is completely dominated by the crisis that is currently prevailing in the far north. The sporting results are disappointing and the club also had to deal with a story of RTV North about the dog of Paulos Abraham, who would terrorize residents of a flat.

As a result of the reporting about that incident, Groningen players and staff decided not to speak to the local medium anymore, and they came under a lot of criticism. Statements by trainer Frank Wormuth, who compared the boycott to the protests of women in Iran, did not improve the situation. Supporters have now noticed that Groningen’s national image has been badly damaged and want to start a conversation about it.

The poor performance of the team will also be discussed. Financial resources were made available last summer to buy in and start on the way to the sub-top, but after thirteen games, Groningen is in fourteenth place. Only twelve points were taken and the lead in place sixteen, where FC Emmen is, is only two points. On Sunday, the Wormuth formation will play a home match against Fortuna Sittard.
