By passing Daley Blind already two matches, Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder has dug his own grave, Johan Derksen thinks. The analyst said Tuesday evening at Today Inside that the coach’s decision could have major consequences for his future in Amsterdam. Derksen mentioned the influence of Danny Blind within Ajax and thinks that Schreuder will not survive a battle with father and son Blind.

During the Champions League match against Rangers (1-3 win) and the Eredivisie match with PSV (1-2 loss), Blind spent the entire match on the bench at Ajax. In Scotland he was replaced by Owen Wijndal. After his injury, Devyne Rensch took his place in left back position. Also against the Eindhoven team last weekend, Blind did not get his place back and Rensch started.

According to Wesley Sneijder, there were no sporting grounds for the reserve turns. In Veronica Offside he announced last Monday that an altercation between Blind and Schreuder would have taken place. “I know that there has been a considerable discussion in the dressing room. I do not know exactly what was said, but a trainer does not have to accept everything. Blind can also be punished now”, the former the Dutch international suggested. Valentijn Driessen also thinks that something has happened. “Blind got warm against Rangers and suddenly Rensch came in. I think something happened there. I think he (Blind, ed.) then refused to fill in.”

According to Derksen, it is a big problem if Blind can’t get along with Schreuder. He cites the position of father Danny Blind within the club. “Danny Blind is a man in the corridors. He sits everywhere in between and chats everywhere. The two ‘Blindjes’ are against the trainer, Huntelaar and Hamstra are lightweights and Van der Sar is not a director who can manage. If you have father and son Blind against you as a trainer in bad times, then you can hardly survive,” says Derksen.
